Room 413: Room 413

A hotel room that doesn't appear on any floor plan. Guests who stay there check out the next morning with no memory of the night — except for recurring nightmares.

A man checks into a seemingly normal hotel, unaware of the existence of Room 413. He's assigned the room, sleeps, and checks out the next morning with no memory of the night, only a creeping sense of unease and the beginnings of a nightmare.

Characters

DEBORAH

supporting

Deborah is a hotel front desk clerk, seemingly bored and possibly hiding something. She's a woman in her early 40s, with a world-weary expression. She has shoulder-length, dark blonde hair pulled back into a loose bun, with a few strands escaping. Her eyes are hazel and appear tired. She has fair skin and a slightly lined face. She wears a standard-issue, slightly ill-fitting hotel uniform: a navy blue blazer and a light blue blouse. She has a name tag pinned to her blazer. She appears to be of average build. She is wearing minimal makeup.

ARTHUR REID

supporting

Arthur Reid is the protagonist, a man checking into a mysterious hotel and investigating a strange anomaly. He is in his early 30s, with a slightly weary but normal appearance. He has short, dark brown hair, neatly combed but slightly disheveled, and tired blue eyes. His skin is fair. He wears a slightly rumpled, charcoal gray suit, a white button-down shirt, and a loosened dark tie, reflecting a recent journey. He carries a small, worn leather suitcase. His expression is generally neutral, shifting to curious and slightly concerned as the story progresses. He is clean-shaven.

Panel 2: Interior of the hotel lobby. A man, ARTHUR REID (30s, wearing a slightly rumpled suit), is checking in at the front desk. The clerk, a bored-looking woman named DEBORAH (40s), is handing him a key.

ARTHUR REID: Room 412? Thank you.

Panel 1: Close-up of Arthur placing the keycard on the bedside table. He looks tired. He notices a door, ajar, connecting to another room.

Panel 2: Arthur cautiously pushes open the connecting door. The room beyond is darker, almost completely black. We can barely make out the number '413' on the door frame inside the dark room.

ARTHUR REID: Hello? Anyone there?

Panel 3: Full view of Room 413. It's sparsely furnished, almost bare. A single bed. The room feels cold and unsettling. The light is dim and flickering.

Panel 4: Close up on Arthur's face. He's now in Room 413, his expression is blank, almost trancelike. His eyes are wide and unfocused.

Panel 2: Close up of Arthur's face. His eyes are closed, but he's sweating slightly. His expression is shifting, showing discomfort.

Panel 3: Back in Room 412. Arthur wakes up with a start, sitting upright in bed. He's disoriented and confused. It's morning. Sunlight streams through the window.

ARTHUR REID: Ugh... what...?

Panel 4: Arthur rubs his temples, trying to recall the night before. He looks around the room, but there's no connecting door. Just a solid wall where it had been.

ARTHUR REID: That's... weird. I could've sworn...

Page 4

Panel 1: Arthur is at the front desk, checking out. Deborah is handing him his receipt.

ARTHUR REID: Morning. Checking out, room 412.

Panel 2: Deborah stares blankly at her computer screen. She pauses, squinting slightly.

DEBORAH: Just one moment, sir... That's odd.

Panel 3: Close up on Deborah's computer screen. It shows the floor plan of the 4th floor. Room 412 is there, but where 413 should be, it's just a blank space in the floorplan.

Panel 4: Arthur is walking away from the hotel, suitcase in hand. He stops, clutching his head. A fleeting image flashes through his mind - a dark, empty room.

ARTHUR REID: What was that...?

Panel 5: Close up on Arthur's face. He looks troubled and confused. A single bead of sweat rolls down his forehead. He is beginning to remember the nightmare.
