The New York Massacre
Action Jackson's resurrection and supernatural attacks threaten New York while Detective Yuki Tanaka fights to stop him.
Rewrite this existing issue as a complete 20-page dark supernatural-horror comic set in New York, adapting it so the only named cast members are Action Jackson and Yuki Tanaka. Do not include Dex Okafor, Rook, Mara Voss, or any other named protector. Unnamed civilians and background crowds are allowed as background extras, but there must be no other named recurring characters. Action Jackson is an evil voodoo skeleton with a grotesque body made of exposed aged bone wrapped in living black shadows, cursed smoke pouring from his jaw, violet light in his eye sockets, unnatural movement, and a cruel predatory presence. He unleashes dark forces through a rooftop ritual that corrupts streets, subways, buildings, and surroundings across New York. Yuki Tanaka is the sole opposing supernatural detective: petite, observant, calm under pressure, equipped with a charcoal field coat, a divination necklace of carved bone and crystal, spirit-sight, silver spirit-threads, and protective sigils. Make her active throughout the entire issue and adapt every rescue, investigation, battle, and counter-ritual beat for her alone. Yuki must discover that a glowing black voodoo heart or charm inside Action Jackson's rib cage anchors both his power and the gateway. She must bind and destroy it, then collapse the gateway. Keep the horror intense and atmospheric without relying on graphic gore. Use dense comic pacing, generally five panels per page, with occasional larger dramatic panels only when earned. End with New York damaged but safe at sunrise and a final black bone fragment crumbling to confirm Action Jackson is defeated. Write all panel descriptions as literal, renderable visuals; keep dialogue and narration in their proper fields. Use English throughout.

PAGE 1
Panel 1:Extreme wide shot of midtown Manhattan at night, skyscrapers lit against a dark sky. On the flat roof of a water-tower building, a towering seven-foot skeleton figure stands at the center of a chalked ritual circle. The figure is Action Jackson — aged stained bone wrapped in writhing living black shadows, shadow-tendrils coiling around his ribs, spine, and cheekbones. Two deep-violet points burn inside his hollow eye sockets. His oversized skull tilts back, jaw open wide, a torrent of cursed black smoke billowing upward from his throat into the night sky above the city.
Panel 2:Close-up on Action Jackson's skull face from below. The violet light in his eye sockets pulses brighter. Black smoke pours from his open jaw in thick ropy columns. The permanent predatory grin of his skull is framed by writhing shadow-tendrils that coil around his cheekbones like animate veins.
“Action Jackson: New York belongs to the dark now. Every soul. Every stone.”
Panel 3:Wide shot of the ritual circle from above, looking straight down. The chalked circle on the rooftop blazes with violet-and-black energy lines radiating outward like cracks in glass. Action Jackson stands at the center, arms spread, his shadow-body expanding outward as dark tendrils begin to pour over the roof's edge and down the building's exterior walls in every direction, spreading like black oil.
Panel 4:Medium shot of Action Jackson's torso. His rib cage is visible through gaps in the living shadow-wrapping. Deep inside the ribcage, between the bones, a dark object pulses with a sickly black-violet glow — a voodoo heart, fist-sized, cracked along its surface, beating with unnatural rhythm. Shadow-tendrils from the ritual circle flow inward toward it like tributaries to a river.
Panel 5:Wide shot of the New York skyline from a distance. Dark tendrils of shadow-energy radiate outward from one rooftop like cracks spreading across ice. The lights of surrounding buildings begin to flicker and dim where the darkness touches them. The sky above the city turns a bruised purple-black, stars disappearing behind the spreading corruption.
Narrator:“Midnight. The city does not yet know what has been opened above it.”
PAGE 2
Panel 1:Wide street-level shot of a Manhattan avenue at night. Black shadow-tendrils snake along the asphalt between cars, seeping through storm drains and curling around fire hydrants and lamp posts. Pedestrians on the sidewalk run in different directions, some stumbling over each other. One man drops his groceries, staring at the darkness moving at his feet.
Panel 2:Underground subway tunnel. Black shadow-tendrils pour through the tunnel walls like water seeping through cracks, spreading across the tile floors and up the support columns. A stopped subway train sits in the dark tunnel, its interior lights strobing. Passengers press their faces against the windows, mouths open.
Panel 3:Interior of a mid-rise apartment hallway. The wallpaper along one wall bubbles and blackens as a shadow-tendril crawls beneath it. Apartment doors rattle in their frames. A child in pajamas stands in an open doorway, staring at the dark moving wall, one hand gripping the doorframe.
Panel 4:Interior of a small hidden room packed with maps, pinned photographs, string-connected notes, and hand-drawn occult diagrams covering every wall. Detective Yuki Tanaka stands at a wide desk covered in open books and instruments. She is petite, Japanese, late twenties, wearing dark fitted clothing, a badge-shaped occult insignia at her collar. Her shoulder-length black hair frames a face with sharp, alert dark brown eyes. She holds a glass orb that glows faintly at its center, and she stares into it with full concentration, her expression tight.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: There. A voodoo signature — massive. Someone just cracked the city open.”
Panel 5:Close-up on the glass orb in Yuki's hands. Inside the orb, a tiny swirling map of Manhattan streets is visible in ghostly silver light, with one rooftop location pulsing black-violet at the center of spreading dark lines — like a spider at the center of a web.
PAGE 3
Panel 1:Wide shot of Yuki's investigation room. She stands at a large wall map of Manhattan, tracing the spreading corruption lines with one finger. The lines on the map pulse faintly. With her other hand she holds a pencil, circling a rooftop location in the theater district. Her desk behind her holds open ritual reference books, several hand-drawn sigil sheets, and a tray of small tools.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: The pattern fans out from one point. Classic voodoo anchor structure.”
Panel 2:Close-up on the map, Yuki's finger resting on the circled rooftop. Beneath the circle, handwritten in small letters: ACTION JACKSON. Two small sketches beside the name show a skull with violet eye-sockets and a chalked ritual circle.
Narrator:“She has tracked this signature before. She hoped never to see it again.”
Panel 3:Medium shot of Yuki at her equipment shelf. She lifts a necklace of carved bone beads and small crystal charms from a hook and places it around her neck. The crystals catch the lamplight. She is already wearing her charcoal field coat, buttoned at the front, occult insignia at the collar.
Panel 4:Close-up on Yuki's hands. She presses two paper sigil sheets flat against her inner coat lining and tucks them inside. Her long fingers are steady and precise. A small spool of thin silver thread — fine as wire — is clipped to her coat's inner pocket with a clasp.
Panel 5:Medium shot of Yuki at the door of her investigation room, hand on the door handle, looking back over her shoulder at the wall map. The pulsing lines on the map have grown visibly larger since the previous panel. Her expression is set and resolved — jaw firm, eyes steady.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: No one else is coming. So I go.”
PAGE 4
Panel 1:Wide shot of a subway station platform. The overhead lights are out except for one strobing emergency light at the far end. Black shadow-creatures — formless shapes with reaching limb-like extensions made entirely of compressed darkness — press against a group of civilians huddled at the platform's dead end, backs against the wall. The shadows move in slow, predatory circles.
Panel 2:Medium shot of the station entrance stairs. Yuki descends fast, her charcoal coat trailing behind her. Her eyes are completely white — no iris, no pupil, spirit-sight active. In her right hand she holds a length of thin silver thread that glows faintly. She can clearly see the shadow-creatures below as solid, detailed shapes in the spirit-sight.
Panel 3:Action shot. Yuki swings the silver thread in a wide horizontal arc. Where the thread passes through a shadow-creature, the creature's form splits and contracts violently, its limb-extensions recoiling. Silver light traces the arc of the thread through the air like a luminous stripe.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Silver binds what darkness builds. Stand back — all of you!”
Panel 4:Wide shot of the platform. Yuki stands between the shadow-creatures and the civilians. She has looped the silver thread in a large circle on the platform floor around the civilians, and the thread glows along its full length, forming a protective boundary. The shadow-creatures press against the edge of the silver circle but cannot cross it, their forms distorting and pulling back at the boundary.
Panel 5:Close-up on Yuki's white spirit-sight eyes. In the white of her irises, ghostly overlay images are visible: the shadow-creatures shown as knotted, cursed shapes with a clear source-line of dark energy trailing upward through the ceiling, toward the surface — toward the ritual origin point.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: They're all tethered to one source. Cut the head. The body dies.”
PAGE 5
Panel 1:Wide shot of the subway platform from the far end. Action Jackson stands at the platform's opposite end — at the tunnel mouth — seven feet tall, filling the space between ceiling and floor. His bone-and-shadow body is fully visible: aged stained ribs wrapped in living shadow-tendrils, violet eye-socket light blazing, black smoke pouring from his open jaw. The emergency strobe light hits him from the side, casting his shadow across the entire platform ceiling.
Panel 2:Medium shot of Action Jackson. He raises one hand, and the cursed black smoke pouring from his jaw thickens and spreads along the platform ceiling, moving with clear intent. Where the smoke touches the overhead lights, they shatter one by one, glass raining down. The shadows in the station deepen.
“Action Jackson: Little detective. You bind my children with thread?”
Panel 3:Over-the-shoulder shot from behind Action Jackson, looking toward Yuki. Yuki stands her ground in front of the glowing silver thread circle protecting the civilians. Her white spirit-sight eyes are fixed on Action Jackson. Her right hand holds the silver thread, her left hand is flat against the protective sigil drawn on the platform column beside her. She does not step back.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: I've read your signature, Jackson. I know what you opened up there.”
Panel 4:Close-up on Action Jackson's skull face. The predatory grin is unchanged — it is always a grin, the permanent expression of bare bone. But the violet light in his eye sockets brightens, and a thick ribbon of black smoke curls from his jaw downward, as if reaching toward the platform floor with deliberate slowness.
“Action Jackson: Then follow me, detective. See what I've built.”
Panel 5:Wide shot of the platform. Action Jackson turns and walks backward into the tunnel entrance — his shadow-body dissolving at the edges into the tunnel darkness, blending with it. He does not run; he recedes slowly, deliberately, the violet eye-lights the last things visible as the darkness swallows him. Yuki watches from the platform, silver thread still in hand, the civilian circle glowing behind her.
PAGE 6
Panel 1:Wide shot of an underground service tunnel branching off from the subway line. Yuki moves through it at a careful pace, her spirit-sight eyes glowing white, illuminating the tunnel walls in front of her. On the walls, floor, and ceiling, voodoo symbols are painted in what appears to be black tar — skulls, binding circles, directional arrows pointing deeper into the tunnel system. Each symbol glows faintly in spirit-sight.
Narrator:“He left a road. Deliberate. He wants to be followed.”
Panel 2:Close-up on one wall section. Three voodoo symbols are painted side by side: a crossroads mark, a skull with a downward arrow, and a seven-pointed binding star. In spirit-sight, visible as a white-eye overlay, a ghostly handprint in black energy is pressed beside the symbols — Action Jackson's mark, oversized, the fingers long and skeletal.
Panel 3:Medium shot of Yuki crouching at a tunnel junction. Three passages branch ahead. She holds her divination necklace out in front of her, the bone beads and crystal charms dangling free. One crystal charm swings clearly toward the left passage, while the others hang still. Yuki's face is focused, reading the pull.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Dark energy density is highest left. Theater district. Of course.”
Panel 4:Wide shot of Yuki moving through a longer stretch of tunnel. The voodoo symbols on the walls grow larger and more densely packed the farther she goes. The floor of the tunnel is dusted with fine black ash that her boots disturb as she walks. Ahead, a faint violet glow is visible at the far end of the tunnel — the light source ahead.
Panel 5:Medium close shot of Yuki's face in profile. She has stopped walking. Her white spirit-sight eyes are fixed on the glow ahead. Her jaw is set. One hand grips the silver thread spool at her coat pocket. The other hand touches the bone-bead necklace at her chest. Her breath is visible as a faint mist in the cold tunnel air.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: He's waiting in there. And so is whatever he's building.”
PAGE 7
Panel 1:Wide establishing shot of the interior of an abandoned theater. The stage is enormous, its curtains rotted and hanging in strips. The seats in the house are warped and decayed. The ceiling above the stage has partially collapsed, open to the night sky above — stars and bruised purple-black clouds visible through the gap. On the stage floor, a massive ritual circle has been drawn in black tar and ash, at least thirty feet in diameter, covered in densely packed voodoo symbols. At the circle's center, a vertical rift of violet-black energy stands in the air — a gateway, roughly six feet tall, its edges ragged and pulsing.
Narrator:“The theater has been dead for years. Tonight it is something worse.”
Panel 2:Medium shot of Yuki standing at the edge of the stage, looking at the ritual circle. She has emerged from the tunnel entrance at the side of the stage — a broken floor panel she has pushed up and through. Her spirit-sight eyes scan the circle systematically, moving from symbol to symbol. She does not step onto the circle yet.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Thirty-foot anchor circle. This took months to prepare.”
Panel 3:Wide shot of the gateway from Yuki's perspective. The vertical rift of violet-black energy pulses and breathes like a living thing. Its edges are ragged, not clean — torn rather than cut. Through the rift's surface, chaotic dark shapes move on the other side, pressing against the membrane. The surrounding ritual circle symbols pulse in sync with the gateway's rhythm.
Panel 4:Close-up on Yuki's face, spirit-sight eyes wide, reflecting the gateway's violet light. Her expression is open-mouthed — she has seen something in the spirit-sight overlay that she did not expect.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: The gateway is still growing. It hasn't opened fully yet.”
PAGE 8
Panel 1:Medium shot of Yuki standing still at the stage edge, her hands raised to shoulder height with palms facing the gateway, and her eyes fully white with spirit-sight. The air around her hands shimmers faintly. She enters a standing trance — upright, alert, but accessing the spirit-sight at full depth.
Narrator:“Spirit-sight. Full read. What has been done here, and when.”
Panel 2:Full-page spirit-sight vision panel. The theater appears in ghostly silver-white overlay, showing a past moment: Action Jackson stands at the center of the empty stage — before the ritual circle was drawn — his bone-and-shadow body hunched over the floor, one finger-bone dragging through the ash to draw the first circle line. His violet eye-sockets are focused downward. The image has the quality of a photographic negative — silver-white lines on black.
Narrator:“Weeks ago. He drew every line himself. Prepared every anchor point.”
Panel 3:Spirit-sight vision continues. Close-up on Action Jackson's rib cage in the silver-white vision. Between the ribs, clearly visible, the black voodoo heart pulses. Lines of energy extend from it outward to each anchor point of the ritual circle around him, like a web with the heart at the center. The lines are thick and definitive.
Narrator:“The gateway's anchor is inside him. The heart is the source.”
Panel 4:Medium close-up of Yuki snapping out of the trance — her eyes returning from fully white to normal dark brown, the transition visible as the white recedes from the outer iris inward. She staggers one step back, catching herself with one hand on a stage pillar. Her expression is grim and focused.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: The heart inside his ribs. That's the anchor. That's what keeps it open.”
Panel 5:Wide shot of the stage from behind Yuki. She stands facing the gateway across the ritual circle. The gateway has grown slightly larger since the first panel — its edges now stretch to nearly eight feet. The theater around it is decayed and dark. Yuki is a small figure against the scale of the gateway and the theater's ruined grandeur.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Destroy the heart. Gateway collapses. Simple. Getting to it is the problem.”
PAGE 9
Panel 1:Wide shot of the stage. Without warning, the gateway's ragged edges flare outward — a sudden expansion of violet-black energy that reaches across the entire stage in a flat horizontal wave. Yuki is caught in the edge of the wave as she turns to run. Her body is outlined in violet light for one frame.
Panel 2:The theater is gone. Yuki stands in a featureless void — absolute black in every direction, no floor visible, no ceiling, no walls. She stands as if on an invisible surface. Distorted ghost-images float around her at various distances: oversized translucent faces with open mouths, reaching hands made of shadow, half-formed figures that shift between human shapes and formless masses. They drift and press closer.
Narrator:“The void. The gateway's inner space. A trap dressed as a place.”
Panel 3:Medium shot of Yuki in the void. Three ghost-images have taken on familiar forms — they wear the faces of people she knows, mouths moving silently, hands reaching toward her. One reaches close enough to touch her coat sleeve. Yuki's expression is tight — not panicked, but working hard to identify what is real.
Panel 4:Close-up on Yuki's face. Her eyes have gone white — spirit-sight active. The ghost-images, in spirit-sight, are revealed as hollow constructs — their spirit-sight overlay shows them as empty frames with no energy inside, like masks with nothing behind them. Yuki's jaw sets. She sees them for what they are.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Not real. Empty shells. The gateway is stalling me.”
PAGE 10
Panel 1:Wide shot of Yuki in the void. She has planted her feet wide apart and holds both arms out horizontally, palms upward. The silver thread unspools from her coat pocket and floats upward around her in a widening spiral, beginning to glow with bright silver light. The ghost-images at the edge of the void recoil from the light.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: If this space is dark, I make light.”
Panel 2:Action shot. Yuki pulls both arms inward fast, and the spiraling silver thread collapses inward toward her body, then explodes outward in all directions as a single burst of silver light — a spherical pulse that fills the entire void frame. The ghost-images caught in the pulse shatter into fragments that dissolve before they hit the invisible floor.
Panel 3:Medium shot of Yuki in the fading aftermath of the silver burst. The void around her is breaking apart — the absolute black is cracking like a shell, violet-black energy visible behind the cracks, and beyond the cracks, the theater stage is visible in fragments. Yuki is already moving, running toward the largest crack.
Panel 4:Wide shot of the abandoned theater stage. Yuki bursts through the surface of the gateway membrane from the inside — she tears through the ragged violet-black edge and lands hard on the stage floor on one knee, both hands flat on the wooden boards. Silver light trails from her coat and hair where she came through, fading as she lands. The gateway behind her pulses and contracts, its edges pulling back inward.
Panel 5:Medium close-up of Yuki on one knee on the stage floor, head up, breathing hard. Her white spirit-sight eyes are fading back to dark brown. Her charcoal coat is dusted with silver light residue. Behind her, the gateway pulses — still present, still growing, but she is outside it. In the theater's shadow-filled upper reaches, two violet points of light are visible — Action Jackson's eyes, watching from the darkness above.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Still standing. Your move, Jackson.”
PAGE 11
Panel 1:Wide shot of the abandoned theater stage from below and to the side. The gateway — a ragged vertical rift of violet-black energy, now nearly nine feet tall — blazes at center stage. Its edges tear wider, and from within the rift, a massive skeletal hand reaches through, fingers splayed, shadow-tendrils coiling around each bone. The hand grips the ragged edge of the gateway and pulls. Yuki stands ten feet away on one knee, one hand flat on the stage boards, staring up at the emerging shape.
Panel 2:Medium shot from below Action Jackson as he pulls himself fully through the gateway. His bone-and-shadow body expands as he clears the rift — he is visibly larger than before, now closer to nine feet, his rib cage broader, his skull tilted back, jaw open, a torrent of black smoke erupting upward from his throat. Shadow-tendrils pour from the gateway after him like a cloak, wrapping around his limbs. The violet light in his eye sockets blazes at full intensity.
“Action Jackson: The door is open, detective. And I am so much more than I was.”
Panel 3:Wide shot of the stage. Action Jackson stands at full height — nine feet — his shadow-body expanded, tendrils spreading across the stage floor around his feet like a tide. Yuki is on her feet now, ten feet away, her charcoal coat settled, the silver thread spool in her right hand, her spirit-sight eyes blazing white. She is tiny against his scale. The decayed theater rises behind them both — rotted curtain strips, collapsed ceiling section open to the bruised night sky above.
Panel 4:Close-up on Yuki's white spirit-sight eyes. In the white of her irises, the ghostly overlay of spirit-sight shows Action Jackson's expanded form lit with dark energy — and at the center of his rib cage, the black voodoo heart pulses with a stronger, faster rhythm than before, its cracked surface glowing brighter, lines of energy radiating outward from it to the gateway behind him like a visible heartbeat.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Bigger. But the heart's still there. Same target.”
PAGE 12
Panel 1:Wide action shot. Action Jackson swings one massive arm in a horizontal arc across the stage. The arm extends impossibly — shadow-tendrils stretching the reach to fifteen feet — sweeping a wave of compressed dark energy across the stage floor. Yuki has already leaped upward, one foot pushing off a surviving stage pillar, her body airborne above the sweep, coat flaring behind her.
Panel 2:Medium shot. Yuki lands on a jutting section of collapsed stage rigging — a horizontal beam lodged at an angle eight feet off the stage floor. She is crouched on it, balanced, the silver thread already unspooling from her hand downward. Below her, Action Jackson's shadow-tendrils crawl up the pillar she just used, crushing it, the stone cracking under the shadow pressure.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: You're slower than you look, Jackson.”
Panel 3:Action shot. Yuki swings the silver thread in a tight overhead loop and releases it downward in a coiling cast. The thread wraps around Action Jackson's right forearm, glowing bright silver on contact. Where the silver thread touches his shadow-flesh, the shadow-tendrils recoil and smoke, pulling back from the bone beneath. Action Jackson's right arm jerks to the side involuntarily.
“Action Jackson: Thread again? You cannot bind what I have become.”
Panel 4:Wide shot. Action Jackson tears his bound arm upward violently. The silver thread snaps taut and pulls Yuki off the rigging beam — she is yanked through the air toward him. She releases the thread at the last instant and tucks into a roll, landing hard on the stage floor and rolling to her feet beside the outer edge of the ritual circle. One hand presses flat against a sigil she draws on the stage floor with two quick strokes of a marker from her coat pocket.
Panel 5:Close-up on the freshly drawn sigil on the stage floor, Yuki's palm pressed flat over it. The sigil blazes white — a burst of protective light that expands outward in a flat ring along the floor. Action Jackson's advancing shadow-tendrils hit the ring and halt, their leading edges burning back.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Ward holds. Buying time. I need to get inside that rib cage.”
PAGE 13
Panel 1:Wide shot of the stage. Action Jackson stands at the center, his expanded form fully lit by the gateway's violet-black light behind him. He raises both arms wide — a deliberate, unhurried gesture — and the shadow-tendrils spread outward from his body in every direction along the stage floor, walls, and ceiling, filling the entire theater space like roots. Yuki is visible at the far edge of the stage, backed against a crumbling proscenium arch column, the ward sigil still faintly glowing at her feet.
“Action Jackson: Run, detective. Every direction is mine now.”
Panel 2:Medium shot of Yuki pressed against the proscenium column. She does not run. Her white spirit-sight eyes are fixed on Action Jackson's torso — specifically on his rib cage. In spirit-sight overlay visible as ghostly lines over the image, the black voodoo heart is shown clearly between his ribs: fist-sized, cracked across its surface, pulsing with a sickly black-violet glow, lines of energy running from it outward to the gateway and to each tendril filling the theater.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: There. Between the third and fourth rib. That heart is everything.”
Panel 3:Close-up on Action Jackson's rib cage from Yuki's perspective. Between the aged stained ribs, wrapped in coiling shadow-tendrils, the black voodoo heart is visible — fist-sized, its cracked surface weeping thin threads of dark energy. It pulses visibly, expanding and contracting with a slow, heavy rhythm. Shadow-tendrils coil protectively around the ribs nearest to it, a living cage within a cage.
Panel 4:Medium shot. Action Jackson takes two enormous strides toward Yuki, his shadow-tendrils contracting around his body into a forward-reaching shape — a predatory lunge posture. The stage boards crack and splinter under his feet. Yuki ducks sideways under his reaching arm, her coat brushing his shadow-flesh, and sprints for the backstage corridor opening — a dark gap in the stage-left wall where the wing curtains have rotted away entirely.
“Action Jackson: Come closer, then. Detective Yuki Tanaka: Not yet. I need room to work.”
PAGE 14
Panel 1:Wide shot of a backstage corridor — a narrow passage lined with rusted pipe-racks, collapsed costume frames, and old stage equipment draped in rotted canvas. Yuki runs through it, her spirit-sight eyes lighting the passage ahead of her in white. Behind her, the corridor wall explodes inward — Action Jackson's massive fist punches through the brick and plaster, shadow-tendrils spreading from the impact hole like cracks.
Panel 2:Medium shot of Yuki rounding a corner into a wider backstage storage room — collapsed shelves, broken prop furniture, scattered papers on the floor. She stops hard, scanning the room. On the far wall, half-buried under a collapsed shelf unit, a painted canvas flat leans — on it, a large voodoo diagram, clearly part of Action Jackson's preparation work: a circle with four marked anchor positions, each labeled with a different symbol. Yuki stares at it, one hand braced on the doorframe.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: He mapped it out. Four anchors. Counter-ritual uses the same positions.”
Panel 3:Close-up on the painted canvas diagram. Four positions are marked at cardinal points around a central circle. At each position, a different symbol: a bone-bead cluster, a sigil mark, a fragment of iron, and a spiral — each labeled in cramped handwriting. The central circle is labeled with a skull and the word HEART. The paint is old but the diagram is precise.
Panel 4:Wide shot of the backstage storage room. The wall on the left side of the room erupts inward — Action Jackson tears through it, his skull-face filling the breach, violet eye-sockets blazing, black smoke pouring from his jaw. His reaching arm sweeps through the room, knocking collapsed shelves aside like paper. Yuki has already moved — she is at the far door, turning back to look over her shoulder at him, one hand gripping the door frame.
“Action Jackson: There is nowhere in this building I cannot reach.”
Panel 5:Medium close-up of Yuki in the doorway, her back to the camera, looking back over her shoulder at Action Jackson. Her expression is visible in profile — jaw set, eyes still white with spirit-sight, no panic. In her hand she holds the bone-bead necklace, already unclasped from her neck and ready to use. Her other hand touches the sigil sheets folded inside her coat.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Four anchors. I already have three of them. One more and I end this.”
PAGE 15
Panel 1:Wide shot of the abandoned theater stage from above — a bird's-eye view. Yuki has returned to the stage. The massive ritual circle is visible on the floor below. She moves to the first anchor position — the northernmost point of the circle — and crouches. She sets the bone-bead necklace down at that position, arranging it in a deliberate circle. It glows faintly white on contact with the ritual circle's energy.
Narrator:“Four anchors. Four points. One chance.”
Panel 2:Medium shot. Yuki moves to the second anchor position — the easternmost point. She pulls a folded sigil sheet from inside her coat, unfolds it with quick precise fingers, and presses it flat to the stage floor. She presses her palm over it hard. The sigil blazes white, sinking into the floor, leaving a glowing white mark at that position.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Second anchor. Sigil, fixed.”
Panel 3:Medium shot. Yuki moves to the third anchor position — the southernmost point. She picks up a jagged length of iron pipe from the collapsed stage rigging debris on the floor and drives it point-down into the stage boards at the anchor position. Where the iron enters the floor inside the ritual circle, the circle's energy lines pulse and redirect toward it, incorporating it.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Iron resists dark energy. Third anchor holds.”
Panel 4:Wide shot of the stage. Yuki stands at the fourth anchor position — the westernmost point — looking at the empty floor. She holds the silver thread spool in her hand, already thinking. But she has no fourth anchor object. Behind her, the gateway pulses and expands another inch. Action Jackson's silhouette fills the backstage corridor entrance — he is coming back onto the stage, his violet eye-sockets blazing, black smoke rolling ahead of him across the floor.
PAGE 16
Panel 1:Wide shot. Action Jackson crosses the stage toward Yuki in long predatory strides. His shadow-tendrils extend ahead of him along the floor, and when they reach the three placed anchors — the necklace, the sigil, the iron pipe — they recoil from each one, burning back. He cannot touch the anchor points. But the fourth position is empty, and his tendrils pour through it freely, spreading across the western quarter of the stage.
“Action Jackson: Three points. You are one short, detective. Your ritual dies here.”
Panel 2:Action shot. Action Jackson's shadow-tendrils surge forward and wrap around Yuki's arms and torso, lifting her off the stage floor. She is pinned — arms locked at her sides, feet dangling six inches above the boards. The tendrils squeeze. Her face is strained, teeth set. The silver thread spool is still in her right hand, clenched in her fist.
“Action Jackson: I'll hold you here until the gateway is permanent.”
Panel 3:Close-up on Yuki's right fist. Her fingers work against the shadow binding, straining. The silver thread spool is pressed against her palm. She twists her wrist and forces the thread's loose end out between her fingers — a single strand of glowing silver thread, just barely free.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: I don't need an object. I just need a connection.”
Panel 4:Medium shot. With a sharp flick of her wrist, Yuki casts the single free strand of silver thread from her pinned hand. It unspools in an arc — glowing bright silver — and the loose end lands precisely on the fourth anchor position on the stage floor. Where it touches the circle, it blazes white, sinking into the floor. All four anchor points now glow simultaneously. The stage floor between them ignites in white energy lines connecting each position.
PAGE 17
Panel 1:Wide shot of the stage from above. The four connected anchor points form a containment shape around the ritual circle. White energy lines run between all four points, overlaying the original black ritual circle. The white lines pulse and push inward toward the center — toward the gateway. The gateway at center stage shudders visibly, its ragged edges contracting, its violet-black light flickering.
Narrator:“The counter-ritual takes hold.”
Panel 2:Medium shot of Action Jackson. The shadow-tendrils holding Yuki aloft begin to thin and loosen — they are losing cohesion as the counter-ritual drains energy from the gateway. His expanded shadow-flesh pulls back toward his bone structure, the extra volume he gained from the gateway shedding away in wisps of dark smoke. His skull face remains fixed in its permanent grin, but the violet light in his eye sockets dims visibly.
“Action Jackson: What — What are you doing to me?”
Panel 3:Action shot. The shadow-tendrils holding Yuki drop her. She falls and lands on her feet in a controlled drop, coat settling around her. She is already turning toward Action Jackson, the silver thread spool in her hand, her spirit-sight eyes blazing white. Behind her, the four anchor points continue to pulse.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Now I can reach you.”
Panel 4:Wide shot of the stage. Action Jackson stands at center stage, his body visibly diminished — still towering, still seven feet, but the shadow-flesh has pulled back enough that his bone structure is fully exposed: aged stained ribs, spine, arm bones, all visible. And between his third and fourth ribs, the black voodoo heart is completely exposed — no longer hidden behind shadow layers, its cracked surface glowing bright black-violet, pulsing fast. Yuki stands ten feet away, spirit-sight fixed on it.
PAGE 18
Panel 1:Medium shot of Yuki moving forward toward Action Jackson at a run — not retreating, advancing. She holds the silver thread in both hands, pulling a long length free from the spool, letting it trail behind her as she closes the distance. The thread glows bright silver. Action Jackson raises one arm to strike but the movement is sluggish — his shadow-tendril extensions are thin and failing.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Heart's exposed. One shot. Make it count.”
Panel 2:Close-up action shot. Yuki reaches Action Jackson and drives both hands forward between his exposed ribs, threading the silver length directly around the black voodoo heart. The silver thread wraps the heart — once, twice, three times — and where it touches the heart's cracked surface, white light burns through the cracks, widening them. Action Jackson's whole frame shudders. His skull face tilts back, jaw open wide, a howl of black smoke erupting upward.
“Action Jackson: NO —”
Panel 3:Medium shot. Yuki plants both feet wide, grips the silver thread with both hands, and pulls it tight around the heart. Her eyes are blazing white — spirit-sight at maximum intensity. The white light in her irises flares outward, and a focused beam of silver-white spirit-light erupts from her palms directly into the bound heart. The heart's cracked surface fractures further — a spiderweb of white cracks spreading across its entire surface.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Break.”
Panel 4:Full splash panel. The black voodoo heart shatters — an explosion of black-violet fragments and white spirit-light erupts outward from inside Action Jackson's rib cage. His bone-and-shadow body tears apart from the inside: ribs fly outward, the spine separates, the skull is flung backward, shadow-tendrils dissolve into wisps of black smoke that burn away in the white light. The gateway behind him collapses inward simultaneously — its violet-black rift pinching shut with a crack of energy. Yuki stands at the center of the explosion, arms thrown wide, coat blown back, spirit-light pouring from her hands and eyes, the theater's ruined grandeur framing the entire scene above and around her.
PAGE 19
Panel 1:Wide shot of the abandoned theater from inside, looking toward the stage. The stage is wrecked — the ritual circle's lines are dark and inert, the gateway position is empty, the four anchor points are burned-out dark marks. The ceiling above the stage groans — more of the structure collapses inward, a section of the upper fly-space crashing down onto the back of the stage in a cascade of timber and plaster. Dust and debris fill the air. Yuki stands at the stage edge, looking up at the falling ceiling.
Narrator:“The theater holds its breath — then lets go.”
Panel 2:Medium shot. Yuki runs across the stage toward the broken floor panel — the tunnel entrance she used to enter. A large timber beam crashes down behind her, hitting the stage three feet from where she just stood. Her charcoal coat is torn at one shoulder. She does not stop.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Tunnel. Now.”
Panel 3:Wide shot inside the underground service tunnel. Yuki drops through the broken floor panel into the tunnel below. She lands in a crouch on the tunnel floor, one hand catching the wall. Above her, through the open panel, the theater's collapse is audible — a rising roar of timber and plaster. Around her in the tunnel, the remaining shadow-creatures from earlier — the formless dark shapes — are visible on the walls. But they are dissolving: their forms blurring, shrinking, losing cohesion, pulled backward along the tunnel walls toward the theater above as if drawn by a current.
Panel 4:Medium shot of Yuki moving fast through the tunnel away from the theater. Behind her, the tunnel shakes — a deep rumble as the theater above fully collapses. Dust and pebbles rain from the tunnel ceiling. She runs with one arm raised to shield her head, coat flaring, spirit-sight eyes cutting a white path through the darkness ahead.
PAGE 20
Panel 1:Wide establishing shot of a Manhattan rooftop at dawn. The sky is pale gold and rose at the horizon, deep blue fading overhead. The city skyline stretches in every direction — intact, lit by sunrise. The streets below show scattered debris, darkened patches on the asphalt where the shadow-corruption spread, but the darkness is gone. Yuki stands at the rooftop's edge, her charcoal coat torn at the shoulder, her hair loose, hands resting on the parapet wall. She faces the sunrise.
Narrator:“Dawn. New York breathes again.”
Panel 2:Medium close-up of Yuki at the parapet. Her eyes are dark brown — no spirit-sight, no white glow. Her expression is quiet and tired, looking out over the city. One hand rests on the parapet stone. Below her coat collar, the bone-bead necklace is back around her neck — the one she used as the first anchor, recovered from the stage before the floor gave way.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Still standing. Both of us.”
Panel 3:Insert shot — close-up on the rooftop surface beside Yuki's hand. A single black bone fragment lies on the parapet stone — the size of a finger joint, jagged at both ends, its surface the same aged stained bone as Action Jackson's skeleton. It is the only remnant visible. A thin crack runs along its length.
Panel 4:Close-up on the bone fragment in full morning sunlight. The crack along its length widens — a hairline fracture spreading from one end to the other. The surface of the bone loses its dark staining, fading from stained black to pale gray to white. The fragment crumbles — it does not shatter violently, it simply falls apart along the crack into three pieces, then dust, the dust scattering in the morning breeze off the rooftop edge.
Panel 5:Wide shot of the rooftop from behind Yuki. She stands at the parapet edge, the city spread out before her in full sunrise light. The spot where the bone fragment lay is empty — just clean stone. She does not look back at it. She faces forward, the city golden and intact ahead of her, the sky clear.
“Detective Yuki Tanaka: Done.”
