Bats in the Belfry
Roy survives his first WereHouse gig — a vampire Bat Mitzvah in a downtown NYC ballroom. Evil Forklift refuses to help load out, leaving Roy to haul gear by hand. A voluptuous vampire woman hypnotizes and briefly drains Roy mid-load. Jennifurr finds him pale and wobbling, steps in with her werewolf strength, and the two finish the job together. By the end, both are catching feelings — and both are absolutely in denial about it.

PAGE 1
Panel 1:Wide shot of an ornate ballroom decked in black and deep purple. Chandeliers hang above rows of seats filled with vampire families in formal wear — pale faces, sharp teeth, elegant black suits and gowns. A banner reads 'First Flight” in gothic silver script. Roy stands at the back near a stack of AV road cases, mouth hanging open, clipboard in hand.
Narrator:“The Grand Bucharest Hotel ballroom. Capacity: 300 undead guests and one very alive Roy.”
Panel 2:At the front of the room, Vampire dad — a gaunt man in a tuxedo with a slicked widow's peak — stands at a podium. Vampire mom — elegant, pale, in a black gown with a pearl necklace — sits in the front row dabbing her eyes with a black handkerchief. She thinks in a thought bubble “My boy! I mean… my adult vampire progeny!”
“Vampire dad : Tonight, our son crosses the threshold... ...into true vampirehood!”
Panel 3:Young Vampire — a gangly thirteen-year-old in a tiny tuxedo, hair slicked back, braces visible in a nervous grin — stands at the center of the room on a raised platform. He is sweating. His hands shake. He looks down at his own hands, then up at the crowd.
“Young Vampire : Um. Hi. I'm... I'm ready. I think.”
Panel 4:Axel stands behind the AV mixing board at the side of the room, headphones around their neck, looking smug and self-satisfied. They gesture toward a light board with one finger extended in a 'well actually' pose.
“Axel: Well actually, Martin Auras are in a different universe and the lighting cue is on channel seven. Roy, get a grip! Do something useful with audio ”
Panel 5:Roy, in the background near the road cases, mouths 'what did I do?' to himself and shrugs with both hands raised.
“Roy : I just asked where the XLR cables go!”
PAGE 2
Panel 1:Young Vampire closes his eyes tight. The whole room holds its breath. Vampire mom grips Vampire dad's arm. Young Vampire's body begins to shake, his tuxedo jacket rattling on his thin frame.
Panel 2:A burst of dark smoke and purple light. Young Vampire is gone. In his place, a tiny, adorable bat with huge eyes and slightly crooked little fangs flutters in circles above the platform, looping around the spotlight beam.
Panel 3:The entire ballroom erupts. Vampire guests leap to their feet, clapping, some weeping, some throwing confetti made of black paper. Vampire mom is full-on sobbing into Vampire dad's shoulder. He pats her back stiffly, eyes glistening.
“Vampire mom: My baby! He did it! Vampire dad : I'm not crying. There's just... blood in my eye.”
Panel 4:Two shot: Close of Roy… slack jawed and in total shock. He has drool coming out of his mouth and is exaggeratedly dumbfounded. The bat is smiling wide with a thumbs up
“Roy : That evil weed is getting to me Bat : I Am the Bat Man”
Panel 5:Jennifurr watches from across the room, one corner of her mouth pulled up — not quite a smile, but close. She quickly looks away and straightens the road case Roy knocked into.
“Jennifurr: Hey New Guy- if you’ve got time to drool you got time to spool! Pick up that DMX cable!”
PAGE 3
Panel 1:The party is in full swing. Vampire guests swirl on the dance floor. Roy navigates through the crowd carrying a long coiled cable over one shoulder, trying not to bump anyone. A voluptuous female vampire in a floor-length crimson gown with elaborate dark hair steps directly into his path, red eyes gleaming.
Panel 2:Close on the female vampire's eyes — huge, glowing deep crimson, filling the panel. Two concentric rings of hypnotic red light pulse outward from her irises.
Panel 3:Roy stands completely still, arms at his sides, the cable dropping from his fingers, his eyes replaced by flat white spirals. A dopey smile is plastered across his face. The female vampire rests one elegant hand on his shoulder and bites him, sucking the blood right out of him
“Roy : Shucks!”
Narrator:“A classic mistake… Roy’s human follies cost him again….”
Panel 4:Gary floats by with his clipboard, glances at Roy, makes a note, then floats on without breaking stride.
“Gary : Hmm. Roy is socializing. Good for team morale!”

Panel 1:EXT. LOADING DOCK. Frank — a massive, heavyset werewolf trucker in aviator sunglasses and a flannel shirt — leans against the cargo truck cab, arms folded, watching. Evil Forklift idles at the dock entrance, green smoke curling lazily from its exhaust. Its large evil green eyes are half-lidded and smug. A glowing green joint the size of a traffic cone hangs from its forks.
“Frank: Hey E.F.! It’s time the strike this show! Evil Forklift : Whoa! It’s for Forklift God-given right to grab quick smoke break”
Panel 2:Evil Forklift 's green eyes slide sideways to look at the Gadsden flag sticker on its own chassis, then slide back. It exhales a thick cloud of green smoke.
“Evil Forklift : Don't fork on me, Frank.”
Panel 3:Roy staggers out of the ballroom's back door onto the loading dock, two-wheeling a very heavy road case. His face is pale, there are two small red marks on his neck, and his eyes are still slightly unfocused. He grabs the case handle with both hands and pulls hard, sneakers squeaking on the pavement.
“Roy : Okay... I can do this. Just... cases. Just cases.”
Narrator:“Post-hypnosis. Two pints lighter. Still on the clock.”
Panel 4:Roy strains to lift a heavy speaker cabinet by himself. His knees are shaking. The cabinet barely moves. In the background, Evil Forklift watches with its smug green eyes, exhaling another ring of green smoke.
“Evil Forklift : You're doing great, champ. Real inspiring.”
Panel 5:Roy has a very pale sick look on his face. Comically pale and sick. His neck is leaking blood from the puncture wounds and his knees are shaking
“Roy : Where’s a blood bank when you need a withdrawal??”
Panel 6:Inside the ballroom doorway, Jennifurr stands watching Roy through the open door — her face is unreadable but her eyes are on him. She has a road case in one hand already.
PAGE 5
Panel 1:Jennifurr steps out onto the loading dock. She sets down the road case she's carrying, walks directly to the enormous speaker cabinet Roy has been struggling with, and lifts it with one hand like it's a lunchbox. Her expression is completely matter-of-fact.
“Jennifurr: Move.”
Panel 2:Roy stares at her, jaw dropped, as Jennifurr carries the massive speaker cabinet up the truck ramp one-handed without breaking stride. Roy is embarrassed
“Jennifurr: You were about to pass out smooth skin! Roy : I was — I almost had that.”
Panel 3:Jennifurr and Roy work side by side, passing road cases up the truck ramp in a rhythm. Jennifurr handles the heavy ones; Roy operates the pallet jack. They move in sync without speaking. Evil Forklift watches from the side, genuinely annoyed that the work is getting done without it.
“Evil Forklift : Hurry up! I wanna get home to watch Forkin’ Around!”
Panel 4:Roy passes a cable case to Jennifurr at the top of the ramp. Their hands briefly overlap on the handle. Both of them notice. Neither says anything. Roy's ears go red.
PAGE 6
Panel 1:Frank slams the cargo truck's rear door shut with a loud clang. He gives a thumbs up to no one in particular, aviator sunglasses catching the dock lights.
“Frank: Truck's loaded. Good work, kid.”
Panel 2:Roy and Jennifurr stand at the edge of the loading dock, side by side, looking out at the NYC skyline. Both of them have their arms crossed. There is a deliberate six inches of space between them. Roy has his WereHouse t-shirt collar pulled up over the bite marks on his neck.
“Roy : Thanks. You didn't have to do that. Jennifurr: Evil Forklift wasn't gonna. Someone had to.”
Panel 3:Roy glances sideways at Jennifurr. Jennifurr is looking straight ahead at the skyline, jaw set. A beat. Roy looks back at the skyline too.
“Roy : Still. It meant a lot.”
Panel 4:Close on Jennifurr's face. The tiniest upturn at the corner of her mouth — the beginning of a smile she is actively suppressing. She clears her throat and looks away harder. She’s blushing a little
“Jennifurr: Don't make it weird, Roy.”
Panel 5:Wide shot from behind: Roy and Jennifurr stand at the dock edge, shoulder-to-shoulder, looking at the glittering NYC skyline. The WereHouse truck is behind them. Evil Forklift idles in the background, green smoke rising, pointedly ignored by both. All the dialogue is in cloud thought bubbles
“Roy : What a weird night Jennifurr: What a weird guy Evil Forklift : I’m so fucking stoned”
