PAGE 1
Panel 1:A wide aerial view of a sprawling German Kleingartenkolonie (allotment garden). Neat rows of small garden plots stretch across the frame, each with a tiny wooden shed, raised beds, and fruit trees. The sun hangs low on the horizon, casting long golden light across the scene. The sky is pale blue with hints of orange at the edges. Gravel paths wind between the plots. A few figures stand motionless among their gardens, holding watering cans.
Narrator:“Mittwochabend, 19 Uhr. Die Sonne brennt noch immer.”
Panel 2:A medium shot of a man in his sixties, KLAUS, standing at the entrance to his garden plot. He wears a faded green gardener's apron and holds a brass watering can in both hands. His eyes are narrow, focused on the plots across the path. Sweat beads on his forehead. Behind him, tomato plants stand tall but wilted.
Panel 3:A wide shot of the garden path between three plots. KLAUS moves forward with his watering can. In the adjacent plot to his left, a woman in her fifties, PETRA, stands perfectly still, holding her own watering can. Both watch each other from the corners of their eyes. Between them, a third plot belongs to DIETER, an elderly man in a straw hat who stands with his arms crossed, observing both of them.
“Klaus: Guten Abend, Petra. Petra: Klaus.”
Panel 4:A close-up of Klaus's face as he reaches his vegetable bed. His jaw is set. He looks down at his wilted tomato plants, then back at Petra's plot, where her plants still stand relatively upright.
“Klaus: Meine Tomaten sind am Verdursten.”
Panel 5:A medium shot of Petra's plot. She stands with her watering can raised, watching Klaus. Her expression is calm but alert. Her vegetables — lettuce, beans, and peppers — are noticeably greener and more vibrant than Klaus's.
“Petra: Ich habe um 17 Uhr gegossen.”
Panel 6:A wide establishing shot of the entire garden section. Klaus's, Petra's, and Dieter's plots are clearly visible. Behind them, other gardeners have begun to emerge from their sheds, holding hoses and watering cans. The competition for water has begun. The sky is now distinctly orange.
Narrator:“Der Wettkampf hat begonnen.”
PAGE 2
Panel 1:A close-up of a brass outdoor faucet mounted on a garden shed wall. The faucet is old and corroded. Klaus's hand reaches toward it, his fingers just touching the metal handle.
Panel 2:A medium shot of Petra standing near her own faucet, positioned about twenty meters away down the path. She watches Klaus intently. Her hand rests on her own faucet handle. Between them, Dieter stands with his arms still crossed, a slight smile on his face.
“Dieter: Ah, jetzt wird es interessant!”
Panel 3:A split panel composition: on the left, Klaus turns his faucet handle with determination. On the right, Petra does the same. Both faucets are turned simultaneously. Water begins to flow from both.
Panel 4:A wide shot of the garden path. From Klaus's faucet on the left, a stream of water flows through a hose that snakes across the gravel. From Petra's faucet on the right, another hose does the same. The two hoses cross in the middle of the path, creating a visual barrier. Dieter stands between them, looking from one hose to the other with growing amusement.
“Dieter: Der Schlauch von Klaus ist länger.”
Panel 5:A close-up of Klaus's hose. The water flows strongly at first, then begins to weaken. Klaus's face appears in the background, growing darker with frustration. The water pressure is dropping noticeably.
“Klaus: Das ist unmöglich!”
Panel 6:A medium shot of Petra's garden. Her water stream remains strong and steady. Her vegetables glisten with water. She stands with a satisfied expression, watching Klaus's water pressure diminish. A small knowing smile appears on her face.
“Petra: Mein Schlauch ist älter. Bessere Qualität.”
PAGE 3
Panel 1:A wide establishing shot of the entire garden community. The sun is now significantly lower. More gardeners have emerged, and they stand in small groups, watching Klaus and Petra's confrontation. Hoses now snake across multiple plots. The scene has become a full-scale water distribution event. In the background, barely visible in one distant plot, an unusually large green shape can be seen growing among the vegetables.
Narrator:“Bald war die ganze Kolonie auf den Beinen.”
Panel 2:A medium shot of Klaus standing at his faucet, looking increasingly desperate. His watering can sits empty on the ground. Petra's water stream continues to flow strongly in the background. Dieter stands nearby, now holding a small notebook, apparently keeping track of something.
“Klaus: Petra, könntest du vielleicht... Petra: Nein.”
Panel 3:A close-up of Dieter's notebook. He is writing down times and water pressures. His handwriting is precise and methodical. The page shows columns: 'Klaus - 19:05 Uhr - schwach', 'Petra - 19:05 Uhr - stark'.
Panel 4:A medium shot of a younger woman in her thirties, ANNA, standing at the edge of the path with a long green hose coiled in her hands. She looks uncertain, watching the tension between Klaus and Petra. Her own garden plot behind her is modest and somewhat neglected.
“Anna: Kann ich meinen Schlauch anschließen?”
Panel 5:A wide shot showing Anna's hose now connected to Klaus's faucet. The water flows through her hose, which is noticeably longer than both Klaus's and Petra's. It stretches across three garden plots, reaching far into the distance. Klaus watches with a mixture of hope and resignation.
“Klaus: Danke, Anna. Das hilft wirklich.”
Panel 6:A close-up of Dieter's face. His eyes narrow. He looks from Anna's hose to his own shed, visible in the background. A competitive spark ignites in his expression. He closes his notebook with deliberate finality.
“Dieter: Ah, also geht es um die Schlauchlänge?”
PAGE 4
Panel 1:A wide establishing shot of Dieter's garden shed. It is significantly larger than Klaus's or Petra's. The shed door stands open, revealing shelves packed with gardening equipment, coiled hoses of various colors and sizes, and tools. Dieter stands in the doorway, hands on his hips, surveying his collection with pride.
“Dieter: Ich habe einen 30-Meter-Schlauch. Vintage. Italienisch.”
Panel 2:A medium shot of Klaus, Petra, and Anna standing together on the garden path, their expressions shifting from confidence to concern. Behind them, Dieter emerges from his shed, carrying a massive coil of a deep red hose.
Panel 3:A close-up of Dieter's hands as he expertly connects the Italian vintage hose to his faucet. The hose is clearly of superior quality, with brass fittings that gleam in the golden light. His movements are practiced and confident.
Panel 4:A wide shot of the garden. Dieter's red hose now stretches across the path and into his own garden plot, which is suddenly revealed to be far larger and more meticulously maintained than anyone suspected. His vegetables are enormous. His tomatoes are the size of softballs. His lettuce is pristine and vibrant.
“Anna: Dieter... dein Garten ist ja riesig!”
Panel 5:A close-up of Klaus's face. Disappointment and resignation wash over his features. He looks down at his own wilted tomatoes, then back at Dieter's thriving garden. Petra stands beside him, her expression similarly deflated.
“Klaus: Das ist... beeindruckend.”
Panel 6:A wide establishing shot of the entire garden community. The sun is now very low, casting long shadows. All the gardeners stand in their respective plots, watering their vegetables. The scene is momentarily peaceful, with water flowing from multiple hoses. But in the far distance, in one plot, the large green shape from earlier is now more visible — it appears to be an enormous zucchini, far larger than any normal vegetable should be.
Narrator:“Dann sah jemand die Zucchini.”
PAGE 5
Panel 1:A medium shot of a man in his seventies, WERNER, standing in his garden plot. He holds a watering can above an enormous zucchini plant. The zucchini itself is grotesquely large — easily the size of a small dog, bright green, and still growing. Werner gazes down at it with a mixture of pride and disbelief. His face is flushed.
“Werner: Meine Zucchini... sie ist fertig.”
Panel 2:A wide shot of the garden path. Klaus, Petra, Anna, and Dieter have all stopped watering. They stand motionless, facing Werner's plot. Their hoses hang slack in their hands. Their eyes are fixed on the enormous zucchini. The water from their hoses trickles onto the ground, forgotten.
Panel 3:A close-up of Klaus's face. His expression transforms from competitive frustration to pure amazement. His mouth opens slightly. His eyes are wide.
“Klaus: Wie... wie groß ist sie?”
Panel 4:A medium shot of Werner holding a measuring tape extended along the length of the zucchini. The tape shows approximately 45 centimeters. Werner's hands tremble slightly as he measures. Pride and pride-mixed-with-anxiety are visible on his weathered face.
“Werner: 45 Zentimeter. Vielleicht mehr.”
Panel 5:A wide shot of the entire garden community. All activity has stopped. Every gardener now faces Werner's plot. Some hold their hoses limply. Others have set them down entirely. The water competition is completely forgotten. All attention is focused on the enormous zucchini. The sky is now deep orange and red.
Narrator:“Alles andere war plötzlich unwichtig.”
Panel 6:A close-up of Petra's face. She turns to look at Klaus. A question forms silently between them. They exchange a glance that communicates a shared realization: the water competition has become irrelevant. The zucchini is the real prize.
PAGE 6
Panel 1:A medium shot of Dieter approaching Werner's plot. He walks with purpose, his eyes fixed on the enormous zucchini. His notebook is tucked under his arm. Behind him, Klaus, Petra, and Anna follow, their water competition completely abandoned.
“Dieter: Werner, das ist ja... unglaublich.”
Panel 2:A close-up of the enormous zucchini. The camera focuses on its smooth, perfect skin, the gentle curve of its form, the vibrant green color. Small water droplets cling to its surface, reflecting the golden light. It is undeniably impressive.
Panel 3:A medium shot of Anna standing beside the zucchini, her hand resting on it for scale. The zucchini is nearly as long as her forearm. Her expression is one of genuine wonder and admiration.
“Anna: Wie hast du das geschafft, Werner?”
Panel 4:A close-up of Werner's face. He smiles — a genuine, proud, deeply satisfied smile. His eyes crinkle at the corners. For the first time all evening, he looks completely content and at peace.
“Werner: Liebe. Und viel Wasser.”
Panel 5:A wide shot of the gathered gardeners. Klaus, Petra, Anna, and Dieter stand around Werner and his zucchini. The sun is now very close to the horizon, creating silhouettes of all the figures. The garden is bathed in deep orange and red light. Their hoses lie on the ground, forgotten. The water has stopped flowing. The competition has ended.
Narrator:“Und so endete der Gießabend nicht mit Sieg, sondern mit Bewunderung.”
Panel 6:A close-up of Dieter's notebook. He opens a new page and writes at the top: 'Werner - Zucchini - 45cm - Meisterwerk'. He underlines the word 'Meisterwerk' (masterpiece) twice.
PAGE 7
Panel 1:A wide establishing shot of the entire garden community. The sun is now touching the horizon. The sky is brilliant orange, red, and purple. All the gardeners have gathered around Werner's plot in a loose semicircle. The water competition is completely forgotten. All eyes are on the enormous zucchini.
Narrator:“Gegen 20 Uhr hatten sich alle versammelt.”
Panel 2:A medium shot of Klaus and Petra standing side by side. Their earlier tension has completely dissolved. Klaus's watering can sits on the ground beside them, abandoned. Petra's hose lies coiled on the path, also forgotten. They watch the zucchini together, their expressions soft and genuinely happy.
“Klaus: Das war wichtiger als der Wasser-Streit. Petra: Viel wichtiger.”
Panel 3:A close-up of Dieter's face as he stands among the group. His competitive edge has softened. He looks genuinely moved by the zucchini and by the unity it has created among the gardeners. His notebook remains closed, tucked under his arm.
“Dieter: Das ist wahrer Gartenerfolg.”
Panel 4:A medium shot of Anna standing between Klaus and Werner. She smiles warmly at both of them. Her modest garden plot is visible in the background, still somewhat neglected, but she doesn't seem to care anymore. The focus has shifted entirely away from competition toward appreciation.
“Anna: Vielleicht sollten wir alle zusammen gießen.”
Panel 5:A wide shot showing all five gardeners standing together around Werner's enormous zucchini. The sun is now half below the horizon. The sky is a spectacular blend of orange, red, purple, and deep blue. Their silhouettes are dark against the glowing sky. Their faces are peaceful and unified.
Panel 6:A close-up of the enormous zucchini, bathed in the last rays of the setting sun. The light catches its skin, making it glow. It is beautiful, almost luminous. A monument to patience, care, and gardening excellence.
Narrator:“Die Zucchini war mehr als nur ein Gemüse. Sie war ein Symbol.”
PAGE 8
Panel 1:A wide establishing shot of the garden as twilight settles in. The sun has set. The sky is now deep purple and dark blue. The first stars are visible. The gardeners have turned on small lanterns that hang from posts or sit on the ground, casting warm yellow light across the plots. The garden has transformed into a magical, peaceful space.
Narrator:“Mit der Dunkelheit kam die Ruhe.”
Panel 2:A medium shot of Klaus, Petra, Anna, Dieter, and Werner sitting on simple wooden benches around Werner's plot. They face the enormous zucchini, which still glows faintly in the lantern light. They are not speaking, simply sitting together in comfortable silence. Watering cans and hoses are nowhere to be seen.
Panel 3:A close-up of Werner's face. He gazes at his zucchini with a mixture of pride and gratitude. His weathered face is peaceful. He looks like a man who has achieved something meaningful.
“Werner: Danke, dass ihr alle hier seid.”
Panel 4:A medium shot of Klaus placing his hand on Werner's shoulder in a gesture of respect and friendship. Petra watches with a warm smile. Anna nods approvingly. Dieter sits with his notebook now open, but instead of recording competition data, he sketches the zucchini.
“Klaus: Das Gemüse, das uns vereint.”
Panel 5:A wide shot of the entire garden community at night. All the gardeners have returned to their own plots, but the atmosphere has completely changed. Instead of competition, there is a sense of shared purpose and community. Some water their plants together, sharing hoses. Others sit on benches, enjoying the evening. The lanterns create pools of warm light throughout the garden.
Narrator:“Der Wettkampf war vorbei. Der Garten war endlich friedlich.”
Panel 6:A close-up of Dieter's notebook page. He has finished his sketch of the zucchini. It is a detailed, respectful drawing. Below it, he has written: 'Der wahre Gartenerfolg ist nicht Größe, sondern Gemeinschaft. - Dieter, 19. Juli, 20:30 Uhr'.
PAGE 9
Panel 1:A wide establishing shot of the garden at full night. The stars are now clearly visible in the dark sky. The lanterns cast warm pools of light. The gardeners have mostly returned to their individual plots, but there is a noticeable change in the atmosphere compared to the beginning of the evening. There is no tension. There is no competition. Only peaceful gardening and community.
Narrator:“Die Zucchini war größer als jede Rivalität.”
Panel 2:A medium shot of Klaus and Petra standing together at the intersection of their two garden plots. They are sharing Klaus's watering can, both holding it together as they water Klaus's tomato plants. The gesture is one of cooperation and friendship. Their earlier tension is completely gone.
“Petra: Morgen gießen wir gemeinsam.”
Panel 3:A close-up of Anna's modest garden plot. She is now watering her plants with Dieter's long Italian vintage hose, which he has offered to her. Her plants are being given proper care for the first time all season. She smiles as she waters, no longer feeling neglected or left out.
“Anna: Danke, Dieter. Das ist... sehr großzügig.”
Panel 4:A medium shot of Dieter standing beside Anna, watching her water her plants with his hose. He no longer looks competitive. He looks satisfied and genuinely pleased to help. His notebook is closed and set aside.
“Dieter: Gutes Gemüse braucht gute Schläuche. Und gute Menschen.”
Panel 5:A wide shot of the garden community at night. All five main characters are visible, each in their own area, but clearly connected by shared purpose and community spirit. The lanterns create a warm, inviting atmosphere. In the background, Werner's enormous zucchini is still visible, now glowing faintly in the lantern light — a symbol of what brought them together.
Panel 6:A close-up of the enormous zucchini, still glowing softly in the lantern light. It sits in Werner's plot like a trophy — not of competition, but of community, care, and shared success.
Narrator:“Das war der wahre Gießabend.”
PAGE 10
Panel 1:A wide establishing shot of the garden at the very end of the evening. The lanterns are being extinguished one by one. The sky is fully dark, filled with stars. The gardeners are heading back to their homes or their cars. But there is a sense of satisfaction and peace in their movements. They wave to each other. They smile.
Narrator:“21 Uhr. Der Gießabend war vorbei.”
Panel 2:A medium shot of Klaus and Petra walking together toward the garden gate. They are still talking, still laughing. Behind them, the garden is growing darker as the lanterns are extinguished.
“Klaus: Morgen um 19 Uhr? Petra: Ja. Zusammen.”
Panel 3:A close-up of Anna and Dieter walking together. Anna is still holding Dieter's Italian hose, which he has insisted she keep for the night. Dieter walks beside her, and they are deep in conversation about gardening techniques and plant care.
“Anna: Ich muss so viel lernen. Dieter: Wir alle lernen jeden Tag.”
Panel 4:A medium shot of Werner standing alone in his garden plot, gazing at his enormous zucchini one last time before heading home. His face is filled with contentment and pride. The zucchini glows softly in the last remaining lantern light.
“Werner: Bis morgen, meine schöne Zucchini.”
Panel 5:A wide shot of the entire garden community at the very end of the evening. All the lanterns have been extinguished except for one, which casts a gentle glow over the entire scene. The five main characters are visible as silhouettes heading toward the gate. The garden is peaceful, quiet, and beautiful.
Narrator:“Morgen würde es wieder Wasser geben. Aber heute Nacht gehörte die Kolonie der Stille.”
Panel 6:A final wide establishing shot of the empty garden at night. All the gardeners have left. The lanterns are extinguished. Only the stars illuminate the scene. The garden is peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. In the center of the frame, Werner's enormous zucchini is barely visible, a dark silhouette in the starlight. The story has come full circle — from a competitive beginning to a peaceful, community-centered end.
Narrator:“Die Zucchini hatte sie vereint. Und das war mehr als genug.”
